Boiler Ideal Logic Installation The Vale Kingston The clients had a Vaillant Ecotec Pro 831 installed, but with a fault which gave them intermittent hot water and heating. After a period of diagnoses and weighing up the cost implications, it was decided that a new boiler be installed which had a good warranty from the manufacturer. The boiler chosen was an Ideal Logic Combination boiler, which has good reviews, which has been engineered to the high 90’s in efficiency. The client didn’t want the new boiler installed in the same place as their old one as a new kitchen was going in. The prefer place couldn’t be achieved as there was a chimney breast from the downstairs flat in the way. Using the current regulations we settled on an adjacent wall near the old boiler. So work started with hanging the boiler and setting up the pipework. Even though the old boiler was working properly, it was possible to get hot water sometimes, so the change over of the pipe work was left to the last minute. I always take pride in my pipe work where possible, even if it takes me a little longer. Unfortunately I had to run a new gas pipe as the previous installers pipe work could be used. Bending the pipe work where possible is important to any Water or Gas way as we want to obstruct them the least amount as possible. Using 90 degree elbows, for example, will slow them down. After the installation of the boiler, testing must take place on the joints and this takes time. We need to find out if the new fittings can take the pressure and contractions from the heating system. Although I take the time in the installation process to get it right, I did have two leaks. These were on the new pipework for the Central Heating circuit. So after draining down the Central Heating,removing the fittings (not easy) and drying out the pipes, I was able to repair with new fittings and re-test. This time no leaks. Once I was happy with the Hot Water and Central Heating from the new boiler I set up the wireless room Thermostat and handed over to the client. I then removed the old boiler and sealed the old flue hole. Job Done. Length of time varies, depending on many unforeseen issues, but this took 4 days.
