Southall Sime Boiler Repair
This was a bit different, as the cause was very different to the symptoms.
The fault codes and chats to their technical help all pointed to the Gas Valve, but I wasn’t convinced.
To replace a major part of the boiler costs money in materials and an engineer to fit/test it. I need to be 100% convinced before I go down that route.
I did find black dust in the Gas Valve which told me the supply was a little dirty, so after cleaning the Gas Valve inlet and supply pipe I got it working.
However, it did stop again and I decided to add a Gas particle filter on the incoming mains as there was dirt again. I got it working again.
However, it did break down yet again with the same fault. This time I checked the incoming supply more carefully and noticed that the standing pressure wasn’t holding steady. This tells me that there is an issue with the Gas supply.
I contacted the Gas supplier, who checked and found debris in their filter (the one a domestic Gas Engineer cant touch). Hey Presto! it worked!!
