Basin Tap replacement, Kingswood Surrey These basin taps were not used very often and when they started dripping they were turned off and not used for years. So I found a pair of quarter turn taps which would fit in the same holes. Turning of the water proved a little difficult as I couldn’t isolate the basin area. I had to turn of the water, both Hot and Cold, from the tanks. As this supplies the whole house I had to do the swap quickly. I supplied new connections for the basin taps to include isolation valves. These would enable the basin to be isolated in the future. I was able to reuse the pop up rod for the waste so that facility stayed. The Gate valves that I had to turn off at the tanks didn’t fully close so having the Wet Vacuum with me stopped the area getting flooded. Job was around 2-3 hours, but could have been longer if I had more seized valves.
